Cultural & Education Architecture Portfolio

The design of new facilities including hall and changing facilities on a sloping site within an existing park setting.

Ightham Scout Pavilion

Latitude has been granted planning and listed building consent for the conversion of the deconsecrated Christ Church in Marylebone, London into a multi purpose sports centre.
The Grade II* listed building will house the headquarters of the charity and will accommodate volleyball and judo but be primarily used for table tennis coaching and tournaments.

35 Cosway Street . London NW1

Latitude were selected as one of 6 finalists in the international design competition for a new Central Library and Cultural Centre in the historic coastal town of Dun Laoghaire in Ireland. Three monoliths, housing the distinct functions, rise from a ground floor that links all buildings and forms routes through the site.

Dun Laoghaire . Ireland

The design and construction of a new photographic gallery in the heart of London's Soho. Set in a listed building, the works include the insertion of a new glass and steel bridge and staircase opening up the existing basement. Polished concrete and high gloss resin floor finishes contrast with the neutral walls. Purpose made concrete and painted furniture adds colour and texture.

Blink Gallery . London

The design of two floors of new office accommodation and the refurbishment of public areas for the Ambassador Theatre Group. The office space, including a new call centre for their national reservations service, is accessed from a new highly glazed contemporary core inserted into the alleyway at the side of the Grade II listed theatre. The refurbishment of the public areas includes new public bars, circulation and wc provision.

Duke of York’s Theatre . London WC2N

A design competition to enable Sevenoaks Nature Centre, a converted gravel pit, to become a vehicle for supporting people to connect with nature, wildlife and environmental issues and in so doing improve their own sense of wellbeing and vitality.
A low impact architecture and infrastructure touching the ground lightly was considered an appropriate response to context. Keeping the built mass to a single storey minimizing visual impact and allowing access for all. Integrating the Darenth Valley walking route through the site provides the opportunity for the visitor centre to become a fixture on the trail and a place for pause and enjoyment of the views and wildlife. At key points around the reserve further interventions allow activities for visitors to enjoy and be educated by the surroundings, or simply to sit quietly.
