55-73 Duke Street . London W1K

A mixed use development of 16 lateral apartments and 4 duplex retail units in the heart of Mayfair. The existing Grade II listed buildings were converted from office to residential use with sensitive yet highly contemporary interventions within the existing fabric.

The key to the structure was consent to insert a contemporary glazed link between the historic buildings that enabled the creation of a single entrance and circulation core. The introduction of further glazed additions set against the original glazed brick enabled the creation of generous light filled apartments.

The interior design of the apartments were differentiated as classic: embracing the original features of the building using traditional natural materials and finishes, or contemporary: incorporating more modern design and texture.

The scheme also involved public realm enhancements to Duke Street.

The project was shortlisted for the AJ Retrofit 2014 Housing award and the New London Architecture 2015 Retail award.
